Dear Second graders and families,
Welcome back! I hope you had a great summer and you are looking forward to second grade. I am so excited about having you in our class this year. I can't wait to get to know each of you!
Class begins tomorrow morning at 8:30 am. The first day of school is an important one. Try to get a good night's sleep and eat a good breakfast.
If you're reading a good book, feel free to bring it and enjoy it during our "Daily 5" literacy block. We'll be working on our reading stamina in the next few weeks.
If you've thought of ideas to write about this summer, please bring those with you too. I'm looking forward to writing about some ideas I got during my summer vacation to Texas.
I have a yellow "Take home" folder waiting for you. You will take it home with papers & notes and return it each morning containing things that need to come back to school.
We'll talk about volunteer opportunities at Curriculum Night. In the meantime, please let me know if you'd like to be our room parent and/or would like to chair our PTSA auction project.
Each Monday I'll post a newsletter to the class' Sharepoint site, which you'll find linked to the school's website under my name in the staff tab. This will help keep you connected to our classroom.
