Hi all,

Thank you for a wonderful year!

Last week we:
 - read a story called Dear Mr. Blueberry and made fact whales.
 - watched a Reading Rainbow video featuring whale books.
 - worked on Topic 12: Working with Numbers to 1000 packets.
 - practiced being social detectives.
 - questioned Ms Daniels' class about 3rd grade
 - watched Ms Daniels' class perform a Native American play about Possum.
 - enjoyed an end of the year celebration with our reading buddies.
 - enjoyed a delicious BBQ followed by a very fun field day.
 - attended a grade level assembly about respect.

This week we'll:
 - read a story called Pine Park Mystery.
 - continue to be social detectives.
 - read mysteries and share our mystery objects.

 - practice solving double-digit addition and subtraction problems. 
 - finish math Topic 12: Working with Numbers to 1000. 
 - participate in our variety show on Monday at 2:00
 - write about The Unthinkables.
 - attend awards and moving up assemblies.
 - learn about the King County Library summer reading program.
 - do some butterfly art with Mrs. Smith's class.
 - prepare our classroom for next year's second graders.
 - finish our year with a party for Ms Hindman and us!

Hi all,

Thank you for coming to our Volunteer Celebration. The kids loved performing for you in appreciation for all you've done for us this year. All I can say is, "Thank you, thank you, thank you to all our special volunteers!"

 Last week we:

 - finished social studies Unit 9 How Do Communities Change?
 - read a story called The Emperor's Egg, watched March of the Penguins, and made cute, fact-filled penguins.
 - finished Topic 11: Multiplication and Division Concepts and took the assessment. 
 - practiced being social detectives.
 - did more work with Superflex (super hero who represents flexible thinking) and  Rock Brain.
 - released our butterflies
 - enjoyed our pizza on the playground
 - finished testing our reading level, fluency, and accuracy with the DRA 2
 - finished testing our reading fluency and accuracy with DIBELS 

This week we'll:
 - read a story called Dear Mr. Blueberry 
 - continue to be social detectives
 - learn more about Superflex and the Team of Unthinkables
 - make "fact" whales

 - practice subtraction math facts 
 - work on math Topic 12: Working with Numbers to 1000
 - take the Trimester 3 math assessment
 - ask questions about 3rd grade
 - attend a grade level assembly about respect
 - make second grade memory books
 - celebrate the end of the year with our reading buddies
 - enjoy the all school BBQ and field day
Please let me know if you would like to help with field day on June 9th at 12:00 to 2:00. 

Please feel free to join our class for the day on Friday, June 17. We will be attending the moving up assembly and I'd like to have a small party for Ms Hindman to send her off as a new teacher. I'm sure she'd love to receive a card, note, picture, etc. from you and/or your child.
