Happy 2011! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!
Our last week at school, we read Mr. Putter and Tabby Fly the Plane, Part 1 & 2 and took the comprehension assessment.
This week we will read Hedgehog Bakes a Cake and take the comprehension assessment over the whole story. I'll send home Hedgehog's recipe in case your child wants to help you bake a yummy yellow cake.
Our last week at school in math, the kids worked using the traditional algorithms for addition and subtraction.They also took the Topic 5 assessment.
This week in math, we'll begin Topic 6: Working with Money, Time, and Data.
Please ask your child to practice counting money up to $1 and telling time to the 5 minutes.
Our last week at school in writing, we finished our own repeating stories patterned after The Enormous Turnip.
This week, we will write vacation news and do some "winter" writing.
Our last week at school in social studies we finished Ch 6: How are goods made and brought to us? and took the assessment.
We will be switching from social studies to science to work on concepts related to solids, liquids, and gases this first week back.
