Last week we:
- Finished Flat Stanley Worldwide Adventures: The African Safari Discovery with Ms Hindman. We wrote about and drew pictures of our favorite parts of the story.
- Read through two scripts of African stories for readers' theater.
- Began our poetry safari. Please ask your students about acrostic and limerick poems.
- Began Topic 9: More addition and subtraction of 2-digit numbers. We learned a shortcut for adding multiples of 10.
- Created a Maasai village in our Africa frieze. We also took pictures and wrote captions about the village.
- Continued with social skills lessons. We learned more about being social detectives, expected and unexpected behaviors, listening with their eyes, and comfortable (happy) or uncomfortable (weird) thoughts we have about other people based on their words or actions.
This week we'll:
- Choose parts for the African readers' theater scripts.
- Continue the poetry safari with Ms Hindman.
- Make African masks and jewelry
- Continue math Topic 9: More addition and subtraction of 2-digit numbers. We'll practice using the traditional algorithm for addition.
- Practice for and perform our music concert on March 17.
- Celebrate St. Patrick's Day through art and writing on March 17.
- Have the Box Tops for Education popcorn party on March 16.
- Have our class picture taken on March 15.
