Week of March 28, 2011

Hi all,

Last week we:
 - Worked on readers' theater for our Africa Celebration. We also read a fun story called Pumpkin Fiesta.
 - Continued our poetry safari. Please ask your students about their couplet, triplet, and
quatrain poems.
- Continued Topic 9: More addition and subtraction of 2-digit numbers. We worked on adding and subtracting using the traditional algorithm.
 - Created African jewelry and watched Lion King.
 - Continued practicing social skills lessons.
This week we'll:
 - Read and take an assessment over a story called Watermelon Day. We'll do an art project to go along with this fun story.
 - Continue the poetry safari with Ms Hindman.
 - Make a Swahili dictionary.
 - Finish math Topic 9: More addition and subtraction of 2-digit numbers and take the assessment.
 - Continue practicing math facts with a music cd.
 - Continue to earn a pajama party with Mrs. Henley's class. This will happen on Friday, April 1st, so please send your student to school wearing pajamas with outside shoes. I'll let you know if we don't earn the party.

Please join us at 2:00 on Thursday, March 31 for our African Celebration. The kids have worked really hard and are anxious to share their knowledge with you! Please plan to take all of their Africa projects home with you that day.

Enjoy your week!
