Last week we:
- began social studies Topic 7 - Who Provides Services in a Community?
- read a story called The Day Jimmy's Boa Ate the Wash, watched a movie, and did a fun art project related to the story.
- learned about nouns - please ask your student what a noun is (a person, place, thing, or idea)
- began Topic 10: Fractions, Probability, and Time. We learned what a fraction is and what the numbers in a fraction mean.
- practiced being social detectives.
- wrote poems for our pockets
- joined Ms Henley's class for poetry reading.
- attended an assembly for the walk-a-thon.
- made a community to review places where we live, work, and play.
This week we'll:
- read and take an assessment over a story called How I Spent My Summer Vacation .
- learn about verbs with Ms Hindman.
- continue social studies Unit 7: Who Provides Services in a Community.
If you have a service job in the community that you'd like to come and talk about with the class, please let me know!
- continue practicing math facts with a music cd. and take an addition math facts assessment.
- continue Topic 10: Fractions, Probability, and time. We'll work more with writing fractions, interpreting their meaning, and looking at equivalent fractions.
- have an in-house field trip for Nature Vision Insects.
We will not need "mom" parent volunteers for the week of April 25. "Dad" volunteers will be very welcome though!
